APPLYING FOR GOVERNMENT GRANTS

The process for grant application is a long and difficult one.  It is a specialized field, and there are services that will write the grant application for you in order to help you obtain the funding.  Funding often runs from $50,000 to $150,000 for churches. This money cannot be used for day to day church operations - it must be used for specific ministries such as helping at-risk youth, feeding the homeless and hungry, AIDS assistance, welfare to work programs, etc.  You can use grant money for overhead expenses for the programs, and facilities.

The Faith Based Initiative puts tax dollars back into the hands of churches so they can carry out the ministry that God has called them too all along.

The best way is to hire a firm that specializes in writing these grants. Often it takes 4-6 weeks just to fill out the grant paperwork. Many companies usually charge 5-10% of the grant amount for their services.  Grants are renewable, however, and once you receive a grant it is much easier (and less costly) to continue the grant.  More info can be found at www.whitehouse.gov
